Girls Who Bite (GWB) is my main OC story, which i've been developing since November 2022. It was originally called 'Face Down in the Center of the Earth.' It follows the haunted shell that is Finch Elkyam upon her return from another realm, saddled with baggage and bound to the demon Maggot. The story follows themes of girlhood, friendship, religon, and violence. What is the main storyline was once a one-off AU, but had quickly overtaken the main plot. I am, currently, attempting to write it, with minimal progress thus far. Disclaimer: I am not Catholic! While I find religious themes in stories compelling, I am not religious, nor was I raised religious, so I've had to do a bit of research to make some stuff work. The story:
GWB is set at a Catholic boarding school in Maine, and follows 14 year-old Finch after she makes a deal with a demon to claw herself out of the angelic sub-demension coloquially known as 'the Underbelly.' The demon Maggot is strangely understanding, but keeps a lot from Finch, and has an even stranger younger sister named Ellie. Ellie is prone to anger and violence, which doesn't clash well with Finch's past, and the two end up at each others throats a lot of the time. Finch's best friend and schoolmate Willhelmenia has been strangely cagey ever since Finch's return, but seems to know Mag a little too well. And the last monster to kill Finch in the Underbelly, an angel-born named Mason, has been lurking around- at least, according to Finch.
